Stampin' Up! Rejoice in Him

Rejoice in Him is my Stamp Set of the Week as we head into March 2023.  While this is an obvious Easter stamp set, I do think it could be used for several occasions, including Christmas.  With the beautiful font and simple line drawings, these stamps can be used to create simply or for stepped up projects.  

To begin my week with Rejoice in Him, I once again turned to the catalog.  This first card was CASE'd from the box found on p. 54 of the 2023 January-April Mini Catalog.  I kept most everything the same, other than changing the base from a box to a card.  To finish the card with a little something extra, a few Iridescent Pearls were added around the sentiment.

Stampin' Up! Playing in the Rain ~ Sketch Saturday

I can't believe my week of playing with Stampin' Up!'s Playing in the Rain stamp set is already over!  I'll still play with this one, a lot, it just isn't going to be my main focus now.  

I'm ending this playful card with quite possibly my favorite card of the week, inspired by this unique sketch from Sketch Saturday.  Today (February 25, 2023) is the first day of this challenge, you have two weeks to play along.  We would love to see what you create, so be sure to share over on the Sketch Saturday Blog. 

This bunny is so happy, I couldn't resist using it for another card.  This time, I left the puddle he's splashing in.  Not only that, but I made it shiny.  Sorry you can't really see it in the photos.  I discovered that using an old, small paintbrush and 3 or 4 drops from my Versamark Refill, I could paint the puddle with Versamark, sprinkle it with Clear Embossing Powder and heat to make it shiny.  I just might be adding embossing powder to EVERTYTHING now, lol.

By placing Mini Stampin' Dimensionals behind the 'a's and the 'p', they are not obvious at all.  If you get pretty close to the card, and are looking, you can barely see that they are there.

Stampin' Up! Playing in the Rain ~ Handmade Birthday Card

 

Birthday cards are highly requested from me, and some of my favorite cards to make!  This one was created for Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge # 594.  This is a double challenge, there's a sketch (pictured below) and the added challenge to use a furry friend on the card.  You can choose either challenge or both!  The challenge ends February 26th, so there's still a few days to play along.

When this amazing Rain or Shine bundled was demonstrated for us at the Texas OnStage Event for Demonstrators last November, the demonstrator used packing tape on parts of her cards to make them shiny.  I thought this was brilliant, so copied the technique on this card.  (I wish the photo would show this better)  

First, stamp and color the fox.  Then, stamp the fox again on a scrap of Basic White Cardstock.  Color just the hat and jacket.  Carefully place a small piece of packing tape over the fox.  Fussy cut the hat and jacket with paper snips. (This technique is easier on the rabbit or umbrella.  I did use an xacto knife to cut out the part around the paw)  I wish I could remember the amazing demonstrator who shared this...if you know, please leave her name in the comments, or send me an email.

Stampin' Up! Playing in the Rain ~ Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop

 

Hey Stampers & Friends!  Welcome to the Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop.  I'm excited to be part of this fun and creative group sharing stamping ideas with you today!

Our color challenge and photo inspiration for this month can be found in the photo below.  I love all of these colors, so of course, had to find a way to use every one of them in my card...even though we technically only need to use some of them.  (OOPS!  Looking over my card and the colors, I realized I didn't use Evening Evergreen, but I did add a touch of Daffodil Delight!)

Merry Merlot is one I really like, but don't often find myself using, so it was fun to make a big part of my card that color.   I used Versamark to repeatedly stamp the flowers, then heat embossed using Clear Embossing Powder.  My Clear Embossing Powder is quite old, and has some retired Dazzling Diamonds mixed in, along with a few specks of White Embossing Powder.  It's subtle, and looks great in person. 

I had never noticed before how great these colors look together.  The color I had the most trouble with this time was Soft Suede.  At first it didn't seem like there was a way to add this one to my card.  Then, I realized I could use Soft Suede to stamp my bunny, giving her a softer look.  I love the result, what do you think?

Stampin' Up! Playing in the Rain ~ Oh Happy Day!

 

Today's card, featuring Playing in the Rain, is another one CASE'd from the catalog.  This time inspired by the CASE challenge over at Stampin' Up! Only Challenges.  The challenge was to CASE (changing at least three things) one of these cards found on p. 5 of the Sale-a-bration Brochure.  They are all great layouts, and colors, so I will probably be finding inspiration from these cards again at some point in the future!

I chose the bottom left card, isn't that a fun one!?  My Stamp Set of the Week is Playing in the Rain, so my first change was the stamp set.   I don't make many square cards, so my second change was to make an A2 sized card.  (Measurements for my card can be found near the end of this post)

I made several other changes, but one of my favorites was the addition of Brushed Brass Butterflies...my ALL TIME FAVORITE EMBELLISHMENT! 🦋💜

I used Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Stampin' Blends to color the turtle, layering the colors on some places.

Stampin' Up! Playing in the Rain ~ Card from the Catalog

 

Playing in the Rain is my Stamp Set of the Week this week.  I have to say, this entire Rain or Shine Suite has been one I have MOST been looking forward to playing with since I first laid eyes on the 2023 January-April Mini Catalog!  

In fact, I think I was so excited about playing with this suite that I overwhelmed myself a little.  So, I'm starting this week with a card I cased from p. 81 of the mini catalog.  I did change a few things...

Instead of stamping the background and bunny, I used pieces of the Rain or Shine Designer Series Paper that is part of the suite.  This was super handy because I have already been using this DSP (I couldn't help myself) so already had a few little scraps that needed to be used. I also changed the color of the card base and the kite color.  Use DSP instead of stamping made this a very quick card to get started with. 

TIP ~ to make the 'string' of the kite long enough, I cut the tip off and spread it out a bit.  Then, I covered up the blank space with the sentiment piece!

Stampin' Up! Taco Fiesta ~ Casually Crafting Blog Hop

 

Hey there!  Thanks for stopping by!  Today I'm taking part in a blog hop with the Casually Crafting Design Team!  We are an international group of Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who want to share our take on casual crafting.  We will share what we love with you monthly.  Be sure to check out the rests of the design team's projects using the links at the bottom of this post.

This month we have new sketch challenge!  I love doing these and it's always fun to see what everyone else does with the sketch.  It blows my mind how different these cards always end up!

  

This week, my Stamp Set of the Week has been Taco Fiesta.  It has been amazing to stamp with.  I have SO many ideas for this unique set, but so little time to stamp!  I've made some notes though, so I will definitely be stamping some of those ideas when I have time to get it back out.  Taco Fiesta was a great set to use with this sketch.

Do you like to make your patterned paper?  I do!  You can go subtle, stamping the same color ink on matching cardstock, make it a bit bolder by stamping black ink on colored cardstock, or really have fun with it and stamp on a lighter cardstock, then color in your images.

Sometimes I make tiny little boo~boos when stamping.  I know, I know, hard to image, but it's true! 😉  Maybe a little smudge of ink or glue, a stamp not quite stamped fully, these things happen.  They aren't a reason to scrap the project though!  Just an excuse to use some embellishments!  This card had a couple of those little oopsies, so I just covered 'em up with a Glossy Dot, then added an extra to balance things out!

Stampin' Up! Taco Fiesta ~ birthday card

 

Holy Guacamole! This Taco Fiesta stamp set sure is fun to create with!  Funnily enough, it's really making me want to resume scrapbooking.  (I have an embarrassing amount of unfinished scrapbooks.)  

Our celebrations often include yummy Mexican food, like any celebrations...birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, engagements, family/friends visiting, we need to eat lunch/dinner.   

This is a standard size card.  After stamping and coloring the quacamole and chip, I fussy cut closely around them.  Once they were cut out, I went around their edges with the brush tip of my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker.  (I shared how to do this in my Facebook Group recently...the short video is still there if you are visual - like me - and need to see it)

Stampin' Up! Thanks a Bunch ~ Sketch Saturday

 

My final card with the slightly quirky Thanks a Bunch stamp set was inspired by Sketch Saturday's Sketch Challenge #719.  If you haven't had a chance yet, swing on over to Sketch Saturday to see the rest of the Design Teams cards for this one.  I LOVE how everyone has a completely different version of this card. 

The colors used on this card are not ones I use often, but I love how they work together on this card.  One of my favorite elements of this one is the Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze angled strip under the circle.  This is a great way to use up some scraps. 

This fantastic birthday sentiment is from Framed Florets.  Of course, the carrots and inside sentiment are from Thanks a Bunch.  I think they all work beautifully together, what do you think? 

To get the scalloped edge on the background piece, I used the largest frame die from Scalloped Contours Dies, just die cutting the one edge.

Stampin' Up! Thanks a Bunch ~ Stamping Inkspirations

 

Hello and welcome to my blog!  I'm excited to be joining the Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop today.  I love being a part of these fun Blog Hops with other stampers sharing what we love and create!  Links to all the other blog posts for this hop are near the end of this post! - be sure to check them out! Hopefully you will be as inspired as I always am seeing what everyone else creates for this month's challenge.

The beautiful photo below is our inspiration for this month, along with with gorgeous colors shown below, which include So Saffron, Sweet Sorbet, Tempting Turquoise, Orchid Oasis and Shaded Spruce.  My Stamp Set of the Week this week is Thanks a Bunch, so no flowers on my card this time.  Although, it was tempting to add some!

I might have mentioned before, these color challenges have become some of my favorite challenges to do.  When I see a color challenge with five to six colors I always want to use every one of those colors, even when it would be easier to just choose a few. I didn't think I was going to use the Tempting Turquoise this time.  Then I had to cover up a tiny drop of ink and the Tempting Turquoise dots from the 2022-2024 Classic Matte Dots came to the rescue!

I used my Stamparatus to make stamping the carrots super easy.  To get the two shades for the carrots, stamp off once before stamping the base carrot, then stamp the shading without stamping off.  I also stamped off once before stamping each of the leaves.  

The sentiment inside the card is from Shaded Summer stamps, which is one of my favorite sets.  The images in that one are fabulous, but the sentiments are perfection.
