Hello! Welcome to my blog, where I like to share cards and projects that will hopefully inspire you to create! I love papercrafting, and hate it when beautiful supplies are just left on the shelf to collect dust.
Today's card was inspired by Atlantic Hearts Sketch 450. I didn't follow the sketch exactly, but was so excited to get out my needle and thread for this one! Back in the day, it was pretty popular to stitch paper for projects, but I haven't seen much of that lately. I'm hoping it's coming back, because it's always a lot of fun to mix different hobbies. (Plus, I can't sew at all, but I can stitch some cardstock. lol)
Sometimes you can use a sewing machine to stitch on cardstock, but I mostly prefer to use my Take Your Pick Tool and a Stampin' Pierce Mat, along with a ruler, needle & thread. I especially recommend stitching by hand when stitching something like these daisies so that the petals don't get messed up by a machine. Plus, the Take Your Pick Tool and Stampin' Pierce Mat are so hand for other things, they are just great to have on hand!
MEASUREMENTS
Card Base ~ Balmy Blue Cardstock ~ 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", score at 4-1/4"
Layer 1 ~ Basic White Cardstock ~ 5-1/4" x 4"
enough Basic White Cardstock for the daisies and dragonfly
Inside Layer ~ Basic White Cardstock ~ 5-1/4" x 4"
- Stamp the largest daisy six times with Polished Pink ink.
- Stamp the center of the largest daisy three times with Daffodil Delight ink.
- Use Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp the dragonfly.
- Punch out the dragonfly with the Dragonflies Punch.
- Add a touch of color and sparkle to the dragonfly wings by lightly dipping the tip of Wink of Stella in a bit of Gorgeous Grape ink, then coloring the wings. (You can very lightly touch the side of the ink pad, OR while the ink pad is closed, squeeze it in the center, then open it up and use the ink that is in the lid)
- Cut around each of the Daffodil Delight daisy centers with Paper Snips.
- Punch out each of the daisies with the Daisy Punch.
- Glue the daisies together, so that you end up with 3 full daisies, all with Daffodil Delight centers.
- Use Liquid Glue to adhere the daisies to Layer 1.
- Stamp 'Smile' with Gorgeous Grape ink, as shown. Then, stamp 'it's your time to shine' with Balmy Blue ink under 'Smile'.
- Punch holes through the daisies 1/8 of an inch apart with the sharp end of the Take Your Pick Tool, making sure to keep the Stampin' Pierce Mat under the cardstock as you make the holes.
- With a needle and thread, sew a line down the daisies, using the holes you created.
- Adhere Layer 1 to the front of your card with Liquid Glue.
- Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to attach the dragonfly to the front of your card.
Stamp the smallest daisy on the inside layer with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Then, add a bit of color and sparkle to it with the Wink of Stella and your choice of colors. Adhere the inside layer to the inside of your card.
