Hey there! It's Friday, and that means another Card From the Catalog! Saleabration is over, so today's card is from the July-December 2021 Mini Catalog. You can find it on p. 47. I made a couple of minor changes, can you spot them?
MEASUREMENTS
Sahara Sand Card Base ~ 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", score at 4-1/4"
Sahara Sand Layer ~ 4" x 5-1/4"
Pattern Party Designer Series Paper ~ 3-1/2" x 4-3/4"
Basic White Cardstock ~ scraps for leaves and 4" x 5-1/4" (inside)
Crumb Cake Cardstock ~ scrap for leaf
Basic Black Cardstock ~ scrap for sentiment
- Place the Sahara Sand layer in the corner of Simply Scoring Tool with the short edge along the top. Score at 3/8", 5/8", 1-3/8", 1-5/8" and so on until you get the end of the cardstock. Go back and score along those lines again to make sure they are well defined.
- Turn the Sahara Sand layer so that the long edge is along the top of the Simply Scoring Tool. This time, score at 1/4", 1/2", 1-1/4", 1-1/2" and so on until you get the end of the cardstock. Go back and score along those lines again. Flip the cardstock over and you should have a pretty plaid design embossed.
- Use the 2nd largest die from Scalloped Contours Dies to cut out the DSP.
- Then, use washi tape (or craft tape) to secure a circle die to the Scalloped Contour Die, as shown in the picture below. Then, cut out a scrap piece of paper, the same size as your DSP.
- Now, place the scrap paper over the DSP and hold it down with washi/craft tape, OR magnets (the Stamparatus is perfect for this). Use the Blending Brush to add a touch of Pool Party ink to the inside of the circle on the DSP.
- Stamp off once before stamping each of the leaves on the Basic White CS scraps. Use Mango Melody and Melon Mambo inks.
- Use the Intricate Leaves Dies to cut a Crumb Cake leaf and to cut around each of the stamped leaves.
- Use a small amount of Liquid Glue to attach the stems to each other. Set aside.
- Attach the Sahara Sand layer to the front of your card with your favorite adhesive.
- Use Stampin' Dimensionals to attach the DSP to the Sahara Sand layer.
- Stamp the sentiment with Versamark on Black cardstock. Cover it with White Embossing Powder, making sure to tap of the excess. Set with the heat tool. Cut around it with Paper Snips, as shown.
- Tie a bow around the stems of the leaves with Linen Thread.
- Attach the leaves to the front of the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
- Place a bit of Liquid Glue on one end of the sentiment and a Mini Stampin' Dimensional on the other end before attaching it to the card front.
- Place a few of the round Clear Epoxy Essentials on the card front.
Stamp off once before stamping one of the leaves in the corner of the 4" piece of Basic White CS. You can use either leaf, either color. (Be sure to clean your stamp first if you switch colors)
Attach the Basic White CS to the inside of the card.
I love finding inspiration in Stampin' Up!'s catalogs and hope you do too! Let me know if there is a certain card you would like to learn to make, and I will do my best to show you how.
Happy Stamping!
