Stampin' Up! Delicate Dahlias - Card from the Catalog

 

Every time I CASE (Copy & Share Everything) a card from the catalog, I learn something.  Sometimes it's something that I knew but forgot, sometimes it's something I knew but never really thought about, and sometimes it's something brand new to me.  With this card, from p. 15 of the Sale-a-bration brochure, I was reminded that we don't always have to use the large, main image from a stamp set when we are stamping our cards.  I love that this card just uses the leaves and one repeated sentiment stamp to make a beautiful card and layout.  

MEASUREMENTS

Mint Macaron Card Base ~ 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", score at 4-1/4"

Basic White Cardstock ~ 4-1/2" x 3-1/4" and 4" x 5-1/4"

Kraft Paper ~ 1-1/2" x 4-1/2"

• Use Mint Macaron ink to stamp the sentiment a few times in each corner of the card base, as shown.
• Next, stamp the large leaves in each corner of the 4-1/2" Basic White CS with Shaded Spruce ink.  Then, use that stamp two more times in the center of the card, turning it a bit each time. (as shown)
• Add the small leaf stamp in a few of the empty areas.
• Use Stampin' Blends to color in the leaves, starting with Old Olive in the center of each leaf, moving to Mint Macaron and Petal Pink. (I used the light blends)
• Cut out the word 'happy' using Christmas Cheer Dies and Kraft Paper. 
• Use Tear & Tape to attach a strip of White Linen Ribbon to the center of the Basic White CS, over the stamped leaves.  Add the cut out 'happy' to the top of the ribbon.  (You can use Glue Dots or Liquid Glue)
• Cut 4 Glue Dots in half, then use them to add the Subtle Shimmer Sequins randomly across the Basic White CS
• Stampin' Dimensionals will help the Basic White CS pop off the card front just a bit. 

For the inside of the card, I decided to add a piece of 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White Cardstock.  Then, I stamped the flower in the corner using Petal Pink ink.  I also stamped the inside of the flower, after stamping off once.
