Stampin' Up! Free as a Bird - Sketch Saturday #671

Happy Saturday and welcome to my blog!  This week over at Sketch Saturday the challenge is to pick a sketch from the archive.  I love this challenge because there are SO many great sketches to choose from.  I chose to use Sketch Challenge #439.  Want to see what others are doing or enter your own card in the challenge?  Here's the link to the CURRENT CHALLENGE.

MEASUREMENTS
Highland Heather Card Base ~ 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", score at 4-1/4"
Mint Macaron ~ 4" x 5-1/4"
Highland Heather Cardstock ~ 1-3/4" x 5-1/4" and 2" x 3"
Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper ~ 1-1/2" x 5-1/4" and 1/2" x 5-1/4" (inside)
Basic White Cardstock ~ 1-3/4" x 2-3/4", 2-1/4" x 1-3/4" and 4" x 5-1/4" (inside)

  • Use the Light Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blend to color approx 14" of Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon
  • Stamp the bird on the 2-1/4" x 1-3/4" piece of Basic White CS, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink
  • Stamp the sentiment on the 1-3/4" x 2-3/4" piece of Basic White CS, as shown
  • Use Watercolor Pencils II to color the bird (I used Cajun Craze and Flirty Flamingo)  Go over the pencil with a Blender Pen, starting with the lightest color and moving to darkest
  • Fussy cut around the bird with Paper Snips
  • Emboss the Mint Macaron CS with the Tasteful Textiles 3D Embossing Folder
  • Attach the DSP to the thin piece of Highland Heather CS, then attach that to the embossed Mint Macaron CS
  • Use Glue Dots to attach approx 4-1/2" of the pink ribbon to the front of the Mint Macaron CS, as shown. (place the Glue Dots behind the CS and wrap the ribbon around on either side just a bit)
  • Attach the Mint Macaron to the front of the Card Base
  • Tie a bow around the attached ribbon using the remainder of the colored ribbon.  You can secure it to the card by placing a Glue Dot behind it, if desired.
  • Glue the 1-3/4" x 2-3/4" Basic White CS (with 'thank you' stamped on it) to the corresponding piece of Highland Heather CS.  Then, glue that to the front of the card.
  • Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to add the bird to the front of the card, as shown.

For the inside of the card, glue the strip of DSP to either side of the 4" Basic White CS.  Then, glue the Basic White CS to the inside of your card.
