Stampin' Up! Free as a Bird Card

HELLO!  Welcome to my blog on this lovely day.  Have you ever created your own Patterned Paper?  That's exactly what I did for the background paper on this card, and I love it!  The images in the Free as a Bird stamp set by Stampin' Up! are absolutely perfect for creating your own Patterned Paper.  Plus, Stampin' Blends are amazing for coloring in those images for a bright and professional look. 

MEASUREMENTS

Fresh Freesia Card Base ~ 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"

Basic White Cardstock ~ 4" x 5-3/4", 4"x2", and 4" x 5-1/4" (inside)

Fresh Freesia ~ 4-1/8" x 5-3/8"

1. Stamp the flowers, buds and leaves all over the 5-1/2" x 4" Basic White CS using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.
2. Stamp the birds on the limb on the 2" x 4" Basic White CS, also with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  Stamp 'Hello' under the limb.
3. Use Stampin' Blends to color the images.  OPTIONAL: Go over the birds lightly with the Stampin' Blends Color Lifter.  
4. Use a Water Painter and Fresh Freesia ink to splash ink on over the images on the 'patterned paper'
5. Cut 1/2" x 4" strip off the end of the 'patterned paper' to use on the inside.  You should be left with 4" x 5-1/4" for the background on the front of the card. 
6. Attach the Basic White CS with the birds to the 2-1/8" x 4-3/8" Fresh Freesia CS.  Then glue that to the 'patterned paper' layer.  Wrap a piece of white twine around the entire thing and tie a bow.
7. Use Stampin' Dimensionals to attach the 'patterned paper' to your Card Front. 

Glue the  1/2" x 4" piece of 'patterned paper' to the left side of the remaining piece of Basic White Cardstock.  Then, glue the Basic White CS to the inside of your card.

Stampin' Up! Brilliant Wings Birthday Card

Hello!  Welcome to my blog!  Today's card was inspired by Paper Craft Crew's Card Sketch #PCC432.  Isn't this a great sketch!?  I decided to go with butterflies for my interpretation of this card.  However, I think this is one I will revisit in the future!  

MEASUREMENTS

Bermuda Bay Card Base ~ 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"

Basic White Cardstock ~ 4" x 5-1/4" (*2, one is for the inside)

*Bermuda Bay Cardstock ~ 2-1/2" x 1-1/2", or 6" x 5"

*Granny Apple Green Cardstock ~ 2-1/2" x 1-1/2" or 6" x 5"

*Melon Mambo Cardstock ~ 2-3/4" x 2" and 2" x 1-1/4" or 6" x 5"

Basic Black Cardstock ~ 6" x 5"

*I went ahead and cut out all the butterflies using this large die and saved the extras for another project.  You can do the same, or just cut out the ones you need.

1. Place Block H on the Melon Mambo ink pad, inking up just the block (no stamp).  Then, lightly spray with a Stampin' Spritzer filled with water.  Now, place the wet, inked block in the middle of your 4" Basic White CS.  Press down firmly for a few seconds, letting the ink saturate the cardstock.
2. Repeat step one using Block G and Granny Apple Green ink.  Place the block above the Melon Mambo strip.
3. Repeat step one again, using Block G and Bermuda Bay ink.  Place the block below the Melon Mambo strip. 
4. Use the large Brilliant Wings Die to cut out butterflies in Granny Apple Green, Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay. 
5. Choose the three butterflies you would like to use for the front and a small one to use on the inside.  Use the coordinating intricate Brilliant Wings Dies to cut out Basic Black butterflies to place on top of your chosen butterflies.  This would be a great time to use Adhesive Sheets, if you have them.  
6. Put the butterflies together.  Peel away the Adhesive Sheet backing, then place the intricate black butterflies on the solid colorful butterflies.  (If you didn't use Adhesive Sheets, just place a few small drops of Liquid Glue on the backs of the butterflies before attaching them.)
7. Glue the stamped Basic White CS to the front of your Bermuda Bay Card Base. 
8. Glue the Granny Apple Green and Bermuda Bay Butterflies to the front of the card
9. Stamp 'Happy Birthday' using Memento Tuxedo Black ink over the Melon Mambo strip, as shown.
10. Use Stampin' Dimensionals to attach the Melon Mambo Butterfly.
11. Place Rhinestones in the center of each butterfly.  

Glue the Basic White Cardstock to the inside of the card, then glue the final butterfly to bottom right corner.

Stampin' Up! Nature's Beauty Card

 

Hello & Welcome!  Are you ready for another week of card making!?  I am!  As usual, I'm starting this week off with a masculine card for those great guys in your life.  This one was inspired by CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge 425.

MEASUREMENTS

Night of Navy Card Base ~ 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"

Dandy Garden DSP ~ 5-3/8" x 4-1/8"

Night of Navy Cardstock ~ 5-1/8" x 2-1/4" and a scrap

Basic White Cardstock ~ scraps for images on the front of the card and 4" x 5-/14" (inside)

1. Stamp the critters from Nature's Beauty on Basic White CS using Early Espresso Ink. 
2. Stamp the Many Messages stamp on Basic White CS, also with Early Espresso Ink.
3. Cut three rectangles out of the strip of Night of Navy CS using the smallest Stitched Rectangles Die. 
4. Cut out the Many Messages with the coordinating die. Choose the sentiment you want to use and put the rest away.  (I keep my unused messages in two of these storage containers from Amazon, for use later.)  
5. Use the Messages Die to cut out a Night of Navy background for the sentiment you chose to keep.
6. Fussy cut around the critters with Paper Snips, or other scissors for detail cutting. 
7. Wrap Linen Thread around the bottom of the DSP and tie in a not.  Use Stampin' Dimensionals to attach the DSP to the front of the card. 
8. Apply your adhesive of choice to the Night of Navy frame, skipping the bottom middle section.  Also, try to leave enough room on the end sections to tuck the bunny and fox under. 
9. For each of the animals, add a couple of Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to the back of their head, and a bit of Liquid Glue behind their feet.  Tuck them under the frame as shown, so that their head sticks up a bit, but the bottoms of each image is stuck down close to the cardstock. 
10. Glue the Night of Navy diecut a little offset behind the sentiment.  Then attach them over the twine using Stampin' Dimensionals.

For the inside of the card, stamp the bare trees to the bottom corner of the 4" Basic White CS.  Attach the CS to the inside of the card.

Stampin' Up! Happiest of Birthdays - TWO Birthday Cards

 

Hello!  Thank you for swinging by my blog today.  Recently, I have been sharing some fairly simple cards on Saturdays.  Today, I decided to share a quick and easy card, PLUS a slightly stepped up version of the same card.  I have been embossing just about everything this week, so of course, the second card includes some heat embossing!

Quick and Easy Card MEASUREMENTS

 Thick Basic White Card Base ~ 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"

Fresh Freesia ~ 3-1/2" x 2-7/8"

True Love Designer Series Paper ~ 1/2" x 2-1/2" (*2)

Basic White Cardstock ~ 2-3/4" x 3-3/8"

1. Use the Fresh Freesia Stampin' Write Marker to make dots on the front of the Card Base.  Start with the fine tip end, then make a few more larger dots with the brush end.  Be careful not to press too hard when making dots...you don't want to mess up the tips of your marker.
2. Stamp the sentiment on the piece of Basic White Cardstock.  
3. Layer the Basic White with the sentiment on the Fresh Freesia CS.  
4. Use Stampin' Dimensionals to attach the Fresh Freesia to the front of the card.  Don't put the Dimensionals too close to the edge.
5. Place Liquid Glue on the the back of the DSP strips, then carefully slide them under the Fresh Freesia, getting them as straight as possible. 

For the inside of this card, just add more dots with your Stampin' Write Marker to the corner. 

Stepped Up Card MEASUREMENTS

Fresh Freesia Card Base ~ 6-1/2" x 6-61/4", scored at 3-1/4"

True Love Designer Series Paper ~ 1/2" x 2-1/2" (*2) and 3/8" x 6" (inside)

Evening Evergreen Cardstock ~ 2-3/4" x 3-3/8"

Basic White Cardstock ~ 2-5/8" x 3-1/4" and 3" x 6" (inside)

1. Color the flowers on the DSP with Stampin' Blends. 
2. Use the dots stamp from Sweet Ice Cream and Versamark ink to create dots on two opposite corners on the front of the card.  Sprinkle Gold Embossing Powder of the dots and set with the Heat Tool.  
3. Stamp the sentiment on the piece of Basic White Cardstock.  
4. Layer the Basic White with the sentiment on the Evening Evergreen CS.  
5. Use Stampin' Dimensionals to attach the Evening Evergreen to the front of the card.  Don't put the Dimensionals too close to the edge.
6. Place Liquid Glue on the the back of the DSP strips, then carefully slide them under the Fresh Freesia, getting them as straight as possible.

Stampin' Up! Nothing's Better Than Card

Happy Friday!  I hope your weekend is getting off to a great start and you can enjoy some yummy chocolate!  Or whatever your favorite treat is!  Today's card was inspired by the need for some chocolate and this great sketch challenge from Try Stampin' On Tuesday!

MEASUREMENTS

Soft Suede Card Base ~ 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/2"

Pattern Party DSP ~ 2" x 5-1/2"

Real Red Cardstock ~ scraps

Soft Suede Cardstock ~ scraps

1. Stamp chocolates on the front of the Soft Suede Card Base with Soft Suede ink. Stamp off once  before stamping the solid inside stamp.  Then stamp the outline stamp without stamping off.
2. Stamp three more solid chocolates on the Soft Suede scraps using Early Espresso ink.  Don't forget to stamp off once before stamping the image on your cardstock.
3. On the three chocolates, stamp the chocolate outline using Versamark ink, sprinkle Copper Embossing Powder over them, then set with the heat tool.  
4. With the coordinating Love You More Than Dies and the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, cut around the three chocolates.  Then, cut the word 'chocolate' out of Real Read CS.  
5. Before you put away the dies and SCEMachine, go ahead and cut out three Real Red chocolates (no need to stamp these)
6. Ink the bottom half of the word 'chocolate' by rubbing it on the Versamark Pad.  Then, sprinkle it with Copper Embossing Powder & heat set. (I learned this trick while back from another demonstrator, but I can't remember who!  😕)
7. Stamp 'a day without' on Real Red CS with Early Espresso Ink. Use Paper Snips to trim around the words.
8. Attach the strip of DSP to the front of the card as shown.  Then, add 'A Day Without Chocolate'.
9. Glue the Real Red chocolates offset behind your embossed chocolates.  
10. Using Stampin' Dimensionals, attach the chocolates to the front of your card. 

For the inside of the card, stamp the rest of the sentiment on the 4" piece of Basic White CS.  Then, add another piece of chocolate near the sentiment.  Glue the Basic White CS to the inside of the card.

Stampin' Up! Celebrate Sunflowers Thank You Card

 

Hello.  I'm so glad you could stop by.  Do you have a favorite card making technique?  I have loved heat embossing since I first learned how to do it many many years ago!  I love the 'magic' of the transformation the embossing powder makes as it is heated and I feel like it is just the perfect finishing touch for a card.  

MEASUREMENTS

Night of Navy Card Base ~ 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"

In Good Taste Designer Series Paper ~ 4" x 5-1/4" and 1" x 4-1/2"

Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper ~ 3-1/2" x 3-1/2", 2" x 2-1/2" and 2" x 2-1/4"

Basic White Cardstock ~ 3-4" x 3"

1. Stamp the large sunflower, leaves and small sunflower on Fluid 100 Paper with Staz On ink. (don't forget to clean your stamp with Staz On cleaner)
2. Using Water Painters and Classic Stampin' Pads, watercolor your stamped images.
3. Use the Sunflower Dies to cut out the sunflowers and leaves with your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.
4. Stamp the sentiment using Versamark.  Then, sprinkle it with Copper Embossing Powder and set with the Heat Tool.  If you have a Versamarker, you can also add a few dots to the center of the sunflower. 
5. Fussy cut around the sentiment with Paper Snips.
6. Attach the DSP and leaves to the front of the card with your favorite adhesive.  (I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue)
7. Attach the Sunflower with Stampin' Dimensionals.
8. I attached the 'bunch' side of the sentiment with Liquid Glue and the 'Thanks' side of the sentiment with a couple of Stampin' Dimensionals (one of them was cut in half)

Usually I center the Basic White Layer inside the card.  This time I decided to offset it.  What do you think?  Just something a little different.  This sunflower is also stamped on Fluid 100 paper, water-colored, then glued on the Basic White CS.

Stampin' Up! Hey Birthday Chick

 

Hi!  Thank you for swinging by my blog today.  Today's card was inspired by not one, but two challenges!  The first was Freshly Made Sketches 491 and the second was Color Throwdown 648.  These two challenge are the perfect combination for a fun card!  Of course, to add to that fun, I chose to use Hey Birthday Chick stamps and Pattern Party Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up!

MEASUREMENTS

Melon Mambo Card Base ~ 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", score at 4-1/4"

DSP ~ 4" x 5-1/4" and 1/2" x 5-1/4" (inside)

Basic White Cardstock ~ 4-1/4" x 2" and 4" x 5-1/4" (inside)

Melon Mambo Cardstock ~ 2" x 1"

Granny Apple Green Cardstock ~ 2" x 1"

1. Color the dots on the DSP with Stampin' Blends or Stampin' Write Markers.  I measured just slightly over 1-1/4" for each section of color. 
2. Stamp the chicken on Basic White CS.  Then color.  
3. Use the Birthday Chick Dies to cut around the chicken.  Then, cut out 'happy birthday' in Melon Mambo and Granny Apple Green. 
4. Glue the DSP to the front of the Card Base. 
5. Use Stampin' Dimensionals to attach the chicken to the card front.  
6. Layer the 'happy birthday' cut outs as shown, attaching them to each other and the card front with Liquid Glue.

Color the other strip of DSP to match the front.  Then glue it to the bottom of the 4" piece of Basic White CS.  Glue the Basic White CS to the inside of the card.

Stampin' Up! Sweet Ice Cream Glitter Birthday Card

 

Hi!  Welcome to my blog!  On Tuesdays I like to share a card on my blog AND create a video on YouTube for that card!  So, if you would like to watch and learn how to make this one, hop on over to my YouTube Channel. :)  

I love the Sweet Ice Cream stamps.  This set is perfect for birthdays any time of year, but especially summer!  I think this card looks like a party with the white dots on the black background and the fun glimmer paper!  

MEASUREMENTS

Basic Black Card Base ~ 6-1/4" x 6-1/2", scored at 3-1/4"

Pattern Party DSP ~ 2-3/4" x 5-3/4"

Rainbow Glimmer Paper ~ 1/4" x 5-3/4", 1-3/4" x 6"

Cinnamon Cider Cardstock ~ Scraps, enough for 4 cones

Basic White Cardstock ~ 1" x 3-1/2" and 3" x 6" (inside)

1. Glue to the DSP to the front of the card, lining the long edge up on the opening side, centered vertically.
2. Glue the Glitter Paper to the front of the card, lining the long edge up with the DSP.
3. Punch 4 ice cream tops out of the Glitter Paper.
4. Punch 4 cones out of the Cinnamon Cider Cardstock.
5. Stamp the waffle pattern on the cones, using Cinnamon Cider ink.
6. Glue the ice cream tops to the top of the cones.  Then, glue three of the ice cream cones (& ice cream) to the front of the card, as shown. (Save the 4th ice cream & cone for the inside of the card)
7. Stamp 'Happy Birthday' on Basic White CS with Versamark.  Sprinkle with Black Embossing Powder, then set with the Heat Tool.
8. Fussy cut 'Happy Birthday' using Paper Snips.  
9. Add the Silver Epoxy Droplets under each ice cream.  
10. Use Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to attach 'Happy Birthday' across the front of the card. 

Stamp 'Hope it's sweet' along the top of the 3" x 6" piece of Basic White Cardstock with Cinnamon Cider ink.  Then, attach the Basic White CS to the inside of the card.  Finally, glue the ice cream cone to the bottom corner of the Basic White CS, as shown.

Stampin' Up! A Good Man Father's Day Card

Hey, hey, hey, it's Masculine Monday!  This is the card I created for my dad for Father's Day this year.  I know Father's Day is over, but it would also make a fantastic birthday card.  For the sentiment on the front, I used A Cut Above stamps, which also have a 'happy birthday' stamp. 

MEASUREMENTS

Basic White Thick Card Base ~ 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4"

Beauty of the Earth DSP ~ 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" (green) and 4-3/4" x 3-1/2" (wood)

Basic White Cardstock ~ 2-1/4" x 3-1/2"and 1" x 1"

Pacific Point Cardstock ~ 3-1/4" x 3"

1. Stamp the image on Basic White CS (2-1/4" w) and the sentiment on Pacific Point CS.
2. Color the image in with watercolor pencils.
3. Lightly go over the watercoloring with a Blender Pen, cleaning it off between each color change.
4. Use Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut out your frame.  One for the inside and one for the outside. Then use the Potted Succulents Dies to cut out the sentiment.
5. Glue the DSP background, watercolored image and frame to the front of your card base as shown.
6. Layer the ribbons across the bottom of your frame, as shown, using glue dots to attach the ribbons.
7. Add the sentiment to the top of the ribbon with Stampin' Dimensionals. 
8. Stamp the heart using Versamark ink on the smallest piece of Basic White CS.  Sprinkle with Gold Embossing Powder and set with the Heat Tool.
9. Color in the heart with the Real Red Watercolor Pencil, then go over it lightly with a Blender Pen.
10. Fussy cut the heart and add to the corner of the frame with a Stampin' Dimensional.

For the inside, I simply stamped sentiments from the stamp set.
