There are three new Stampin' Up! items that I am loving lately. Of course you probably know the first...the 'Hey Chick' and 'Hey Birthday Chick' bundles. SO FUN! Also, I keep finding myself grabbing the new blending brushes for backgrounds. The way they blend Stampin' Up! ink is so soft and smooth, I love it! The third thing is the new(ish) Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. It's so handy!
When I saw challenge 491 at Try Stampin' On Tuesday, I thought I would play around with the 'Hey Chick' bundle and just see what happens. I really didn't expect to end up with something I was willing to share. Of course, I started with the bundle, then decided to use only Memento Tuxedo Black Ink with Regals colors.
Deciding to use blending brushes to add color for the background really pulled this card together. From top to bottom, I blended Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Garden Green.
The chicken was stamped with Memento black on Basic White Cardstock, then heat embossed with Clear Emboss Powder, and watercolored with Stampin' Up's Water Painters and Real Red, Pumpkin Spice & Crushed Curry. Finally, I used the coordinating dies to cut out the chicken and Multipurpose Liquid Glue to stick her down.
I used Adhesive Sheets when die cutting the seeds. Here's a trick... to get the backing off the sticker sheet after you punch out something small (or super tiny like these seeds), roll up a glue dot and stick it on the end of your thumb, then use it to 'grab' the backing off. Works like a charm! (I hope I explained that okay.) Next time I will use the sticker sheet for the corn stalk as well. This time I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue and Mini Glue Dots.
The sign and chicken coop were attached with Stampin' Dimensionals. 'Hey, chick!' was stamped on Basic White cardstock, colored over in Cajun Craze with a Blending Brush, and snipped around with Paper Snips before being glued onto the sign.
I hope you are inspired to be creative today. Happy Stamping!

So fun, Judith - I haven't bitten the slimline style yet myself - what a great take to show off our awesome new dies! Love it! Thanks so much for playing at TSOT!
ReplyDeleteHey, Heather! I make my slimline cards smaller than most I've seen online. Mine are 3-1/4"X6-1/4". They fit perfectly in 6-3/4" envelopes. I am so glad you liked this one. Thank you!
